Could you please share with us your experience of studying at Vatel in Thailand?

Being in my final year of study, I believe I have accumulated a lot of experience both professionally and personally by studying at Vatel and in the incredible country of Thailand. Before the international Internship in the 3rd year, Vatel allow us to perform domestic internships in Bangkok for the first year, and in any destination across the country for the second year, which of course has been a real opportunity for me to discover Thailand’s amazing scenery and culture (especially the gastronomy). For studying about the Hotel and Tourism field, it is essential to learn about the culture and history of the country that you are in.

Which hotels have you conducted your internship at?

I had my first-year internship in the Housekeeping department at Sofitel So Bangkok, which is one of the most reputable and modern five-star hotels in Bangkok. That was my first experience of work in Thailand and was such a good opportunity for me to learn more about both Thai culture and the Hospitality Industry. I did my second-year internship in the F&B department at Rosewood Phuket, which also is part of an excellent hotel group. Here also, I really enjoyed my work experience and learned a lot, but in a completely different way. The resort was perfectly located in Phuket, and the HR department really helped my room mates and I to find accommodation close by. The actual Covid-19 situation has unfortunately postponed my third-year International internship that I was supposed to make at Amanpulo in Philippines, but I will complete this as soon as I can.

How about living in Bangkok?

Vatel campus is ideally located between the center of the city and close to many condominiums. It is also convenient for transportation (Taxis, Moto bike taxi, Sky train, or by boat), in fact, the campus is also on the banks of the Chao Phraya river on the opposite side to icon Siam Mall, which is crossable by a free ferry boat.

Indeed, Thailand is well famous for having a wide range of delicious, cheap traditional cuisine (Pad Thai, Khao Pad, Tom yum, Som tum, and a lot more…). Thailand has a relatively low cost of living compared to Europe and combined with Vatel Thailand’s reasonable tuition fee, it makes it an attractive study location for international students.

What are the other benefits of studying at Vatel in Thailand?

The advantage of studying at Vatel Thailand is that by the end of this year I’ll be graduated (if my grades allow of course) and I will receive a double degree. An international Bachelor degree in Hotel Management, and a Thai equivalent from Silpakorn University. Being a student at Vatel Bangkok is also great value in terms of the quality of learning as we mix practical with theory classes and they are all supervised by extremely knowledgeable professors. The school has its own application restaurant and café where we practice and they are open to the public, so we get to train with real customers.

What advice would you give to other students thinking of coming to study at Vatel Thailand?

The real satisfaction as an international student, is when you realize the evolution of yourself, how you became more mature, how your perception of the world is different, how you have grown professionally, and how you feel proud having overcome all those past challenges. I can honestly say that studying at Vatel Bangkok has been an incredible experience that will be of benefit to my future career as well as for myself. Studying in Thailand is really something that I would highly recommend to any student that wants to be overseas and discover more about another culture.
